The demand for Intelligence and Crime Analysts has risen 10-fold during the last 15 years. Even though Crime and Intelligence Analysts often work in a police department, most times they are not government employees. As an external consultant for the Anti-Drug division of the Italian Police, I began developing computer programs to analyze intelligence data from the age of 16 years old (in 1990). Since then I have always been hired as a consultant in several LEA in Italy and abroad, working with intelligence officers who gather information by field observation, confidential information sources, and public records before using specialist computer software and technology to analyze the collected data and produce reports of their findings. Together we link and chart suspects to criminal organizations or events to determine who is doing what with whom; use telephone toll analysis to plot telephone activity to determine the size and location of criminal groups and individuals involved, etc. The analyzed data produce intelligence information to establish criminal profiles that include criminal relationships that aid in making a connection between members and the criminal organization.

My main expertise is in investigating crime data and other information sources to identify patterns of criminal activity. I assist investigators in understanding how patterns of criminal activity are linked, targeting individuals and their networks. To do that and to help LEAs doing that, I also offer help in acquiring the correct systems (software applications, hardware tools, etc), and provide specialized assistance in learning how to use them.

I can also conduct lectures at conferences on topics related to the subjects of my work.
